My Mattel Sams hair sounds just like yours. We got her in March 2005 too. Very curly and shorter than my old PM Sams hair. I find our Sams hair to be somewhat uneven also. I have toyed with the idea of exchanging. I think it has been too long though. My DD wants to keep her anyway.
